About Aurora Records
Aurora Records is owned by The Norwegian Society of Composers and aims to record and promote contemporary Norwegian music. The record label was founded in 1963 under the name Contemporary Music from Norway. It was later renamed Aurora Records. The sub-label Hemera was established in 1992, for publication and promotion of the member’s own recordings. It was discontinued eight years later and all releases from The Norwegian Society of Composers were released under Aurora Records. Aurora was licensed to Grappa Musikkforlag from 2012. This arrangement ended in 2021 when The Norwegian Society of Composers took over the management of the label.
Aurora Records explores and presents important composers and performers from the Norwegian contemporary music scene. Through its recordings Aurora strives to contribute to a diverse music scene both in Norway and internationally. Aurora records is run as an independent record label.
